Dolin Vermouth

At the age of 25, Joseph Chavasse founded a liqueur distillery in Echelles in the province of Mont Blanc, where he created numerous liqueurs. Inspired by the aperitifs from the neighbouring city of Turin, Joseph Chavasse created a new vermouth. The recipe remained his secret at first. He macerated a certain number of wild herbs and spices from the surrounding Alps in white wine from the region. In 1830, he moved his liqueur distillery to Chambéry, where his daughter Marie Rosalie was born. She later married Louis-Ferdinand Dolin, who soon joined his father-in-law’s company and eventually gave it his name.

The three products “Le Vermouth Dry”, “Le Vermouth Rouge” and “Le Vermouth Blanc” are all based 100% on regional white wine from the Ugni Blanc variety, to which up to 35 different herbs and spices are added along with sugar. “Chambéryzette” is a variant of the Dry with a fresh strawberry flavour.
