Tomatin Highland Single Malt Whisky

The Tomatin distillery is located in the Monadhliath Mountains south of Inverness, the capital of the Scottish Highlands. Whisky production has probably been an important part of the way of life in this area since the 15th century.

In 1974, Tomatin had 23 stills producing 12.5 million litres a year, making it the largest malt distillery in the world. Its demise in the recession of the 1980s came as a surprise, as Tomatin was equipped with state-of-the-art technology. That’s why it did not stay closed for long. In 1986, two Japanese companies bought the distillery. Takara Shuzo is still the proud majority shareholder today.

The new owners have succeeded in restoring the Tomatin brand to its former glory. With a premium wood policy, Tomatin takes whisky lovers on a journey through maturation, with each cask bursting with unique characteristics while representing the classic Tomatin style: unpeated, light, smooth and fruity.
